*Flood Warning*
A flood warning remains in effect for the St. Louis River near Scanlon, affecting Carlton County.
*At 8:30 AM Saturday the stage was 15.2 feet.
*Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
*Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
*The river will remain steady or slightly rise over the next day. And then slowly fall through the remainder of the upcoming week.
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River near Aitkin, affecting Aitkin County.
*At 10:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 17.8 feet.
*Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
*Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
*The river will continue to rise to a crest between 18.5 feet and 19.5 feet during the middle of next week and then slowly lower through next weekend. Note: There is some uncertainty in the forecast because of somewhat unknown outflow from Big Sandy Lake and how it will affect river levels along the Mississippi River.
*At 19.0 feet the transformer station needs emergency protection.
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River near Brainerd, affecting Crow Wing County.
*At 10:30 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 16.4 feet.
*Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
*At 16.0 feet this may cause flooding of at least one private home.
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River near Fort Ripley, affecting Morrison and Crow Wing Counties.
*At 10:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 11.9 feet.
*Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
*Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
*The river will continue to rise to near 13.0 feet by sometime mid to late next week and then slowly fall into next weekend.
*At 12.0 feet the boat landing and parking lot at the public access are under water.
…Additional information…
-Big Sandy Lake in Aitkin County continues to rise to very high levels. As of This Morning it was at 1221.3 feet which is up more than 3.5 feet before the heavy rains earlier this week. The latest estimate from the Army Corps of Engineers is that the river will continue to rise to a height between 1222.5 and 1223.5 feet near the end of the month and this would only about 1 to 2 feet shy of the record of 1224.82 feet set in May of 1950. The high water levels on Big Sandy Lake could cause issues for homes and communities along the Lake Shore.
-Pokegama Lake in Southern Itasca County is another lake that is also much higher than usual. As of This Morning the lake was at 1274.9 feet and could rise to 1276.0 to 1277.0 feet over the next few days per Army Corps of Engineers.
-Aitkin County emergency management reported there was some sandbagging occurring in the McGregor area and points north and east of there.
