-Looks like the snow will arrive between 7-9 PM This Evening west of a line from International Falls to Brainerd. The snow will then move east-northeast and should overspread the Iron Range, Twin Ports and I35 corridor toward the Midnight hour. Snow moves into the Arrowhead, North Shore and all of Northwest Wisconsin after 4 AM.
-Snow could be heavy at times with 1″ per hour snowfall rates possible late Tonight into Monday Morning.
-Additional snow is expected Monday Afternoon into Monday Night, but this snow should generally be on the light side.
-Gusty southeast winds Tonight and Monday Morning will shift to the west Monday Afternoon. Wind gusts of 20-35 mph could occur at times Monday and Monday Night.
-Areas of blowing and drifting snow are possible late Tonight, but more so from Monday Afternoon into Monday Night as this is when the stronger winds are expected in our area.
-Expect hazardous travel conditions with snow covered and slippery roads beginning Tonight and lasting into Monday Night. Visibilities could drop to a quarter mile at times due to the snow and blowing snow. Use extreme caution if you have travel plans and be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination.
-Note: It’s possible that the winter weather advisory will be upgraded to a winter storm warning in Northern Minnesota, mainly for areas north of Duluth.
-Snowfall accumulations: I’m expecting 3-6″ of snow to accumulate by Monday Afternoon in much of Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. Heavier amounts of 6-9″ are possible in Northern Minnesota and also along the North Shore of Lake Superior where southeast winds may cause lake enhanced snowfall on Monday. Note: Shouldn’t see much lake enhanced snow in Duluth/Superior as winds look to be more southeasterly which limits the lake snow threat for the Twin Ports, we need more of an east-northeast wind here in Duluth for lake effect.
