Scattered rain showers will continue to affect parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this evening with showers ending later tonight.

One cold front weakens as it moves out of western Minnesota tonight, then will see a stronger cold front move through the Northland from Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.  Some rain showers are possible along and behind this second cold front late Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning.

A large portion of the lower 48 is having a cooler than normal year so far.

…Update on the potential rain event for early next week…

Computer models have come into much better agreement with the system for early next week, and they all show it staying well south of our area with little to no rain in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin next Monday and Tuesday.

Note:  I know we’re only 4 months into 2019, but the only month so far that has had a monthly average temperature above normal was April, and that was just by 0.6 degrees, every other month so far this year has been below average in Duluth, Minnesota, something to keep an eye on as we move deeper into 2019 to see if this cool trend continues.

Departure:  -2.6 degrees below normal

February 2019

Average temperature:  11.2 degrees
Departure:  -2.8 degrees below normal

March 2019

Average temperature:  24.9 degrees
Departure:  -1.0 degree below normal

April 2019

Average temperature:  40.2 degrees
Departure:  +0.6 degrees above normal

.Saturday…  Patchy fog possible early, then partly to mostly cloudy.  Warmer.  Breezy.  High 65 to 70.  Wind becoming southwest 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.

.Saturday night and Sunday morning…  Occasional showers possible.  Mostly cloudy.
