February 2021 Climate Summaries for the Northland

February 2021 was colder than average across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, but even with the arctic air earlier in the month, the only station to record a top 10 coldest February on record was Hibbing (6th coldest on record)

Snowfall and precipitation for February 2021 was below normal across most of the Northland, with International Falls recording their 4th least snowiest and their 5th driest February on record. Portions of northwest Wisconsin fared a little better, as precipitation and snowfall for the month was pretty close to normal.

Duluth, Minnesota Climate Summary for February 2021

Average temperature: 7.2 degrees
Normal: 15.1 degrees
Departure: -7.9 degrees below normal

Highest temperature: 42 degrees on the 27th
Lowest temperature: -35 degrees on the 13th

15 days had a subzero minimum temperature; normal is 11
6 days had a maximum temperature of 32 degrees or higher; normal is 7 days

Total precipitation: 0.53″
Normal: 0.81″
Departure: -0.28″ below normal

Greatest calendar day precipitation total: 0.21″ on the 4th

3 days had at least 0.10″ of precipitation

Total snowfall: 8.6″

Departure: -3.8″ below normal

Greatest calendar day snowfall total: 3.1″ on the 4th

3 days had at least 1.0″ snowfall, normal is 4 days

Duluth had more colder than average days (blue) compared to warmer than average days (red) during February 2021.
