Update on the Greenwood Fire

The Greenwood fire has grown to 3200 acres as of 6 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The fire was detected on Sunday, August 15th near Greenwood Lake on the Laurentian Ranger District. It is approximately 15 miles southwest of Isabella, Minnesota.

-More very warm and breezy weather is expected Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Southerly winds over the next few days will cause the fire to spread farther north. Some rain is expected in the fire area Friday night.

-Evacuations are in effect for McDougal Lake, Sand Lake, the Highway 2 corridor, and just north of Highway 1.

-A Red Cross shelter is set up at the Finland Community Center 6866, Cramer Rd, Finland, MN 55603 for those displaced or unable to reach their homes due to the Greenwood fire and road closures.
