Greenwood Fire information as of 4:57 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021

Size: 25,991 acres
Percent contained: 0%
Total personnel: 476

-12 homes/cabins destroyed
-3 damaged

-Fire grew on the southeast end on Wednesday
-Structure-wise, the Greenwood fire is the most destructive fire in Minnesota since the Ham Lake fire in 2007

Weather over the Greenwood fire will include a cooler and more humid easterly flow, with occasional rain through Saturday night, this should help a bit, how much, only time will tell. Any fire growth at least through Friday evening should be on the west or southwest side of the Greenwood fire given forecast wind directions.

Smoke plume from the Greenwood fire as well as fires burning over the Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario Canada will continue to impact portions of north-central and northeast Minnesota at least through Friday evening with red and orange or unhealthy air quality expected. Note: The thickest/strongest smell of smoke should remain NW of Duluth and Superior through Friday.
