Typically, by May 1st, we should’ve had 17 days with a high of at least 50 degrees (2 days so far this spring), and 6 days with a high of at least 60 degrees (0 so far this spring), and 1 day with a high of at least 70 degrees (0 so far this spring).

Long range computer models are showing a pretty amplified pattern setting up late this weekend through about the middle of next week. There are differences with just how amplified the pattern will become though, with the GFS somewhat less amplified compared to the Euro model guidance which is showing a big-time ridge setting up with an early season heat wave across the Midwest and eastern Great Lakes early to mid-next week.

This type of pattern is also an active one with several low-pressure systems possibly ejecting NE out of the Rockies next week with chances for rain and thunderstorms at times late this weekend through next week.

Depending on how the ridge sets up and the strength of the ridge will determine how warm will get in the Northland early next week, but there is a chance that will see high temperatures in the 70s and possibly even in the 80s in parts of the area ~May 8th through 11th.

Temperature Anomaly Forecast for next week (May 9-14).
