Strong winds associated with a line of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon resulted in many reports of downed trees and wires in the Northland with as many as 1100 customers without power at the height of this event late this afternoon.
As of 8 PM this evening there were 17 active outages affecting 554 customers.

FLOOD INFORMATION
New today – A Flash Flood Watch issued for portions of northern Koochiching County including International Falls and the Bois Forte Reservation through Thursday afternoon. A potential dam failure at the Nett Lake Dam along the Nett River. Flash flooding possible downstream of the Nett Dam along the Nett River. Dam failure may result in flash flooding of low-lying areas below the dam. The bridge along Woodchuck Road may be inundated. The Nett River Dam along the Nett River is currently being over topped.
-Flood Warning continues for rivers and lakes within the Rainy River Basin including Lake Vermilion, Crane Lake, Namakan Lake, Kabetogama Lake, Rainy Lake, and the Rainy River. Strong lake level rises are ongoing. Widespread impacts are occurring. Flooding is occurring now and is expected to continue for the next several days and weeks.
-Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at Aitkin until further notice with moderate flooding occurring.
-Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at Fort Ripley until early Sunday afternoon with minor flooding occurring.
-Flood Warning continues until Noon Friday for a portion of northeast Minnesota including St. Louis County. Some locations that will experience flooding include Island Lake, Fredenberg, Taft and Fish Lake.

The chances for severe thunderstorms on Thursday continue to diminish in much of the Northland with higher chances of severe thunderstorms focused for areas farther south from south-central Minnesota into western and central Wisconsin.
Here in the Northland isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening mainly over far southern parts of the area (dark green) The primary severe threats on Thursday will be from large hail up to 1″ diameter or quarter size, and damaging wind gusts to 60 mph.
Thursday morning looks mainly dry in the Northland, this will be followed by occasional showers from Thursday afternoon through early Friday morning. A few thunderstorms are also possible, mainly from eastern Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin.
