Much cooler temperatures due to widespread rain were found in Iowa and Nebraska today and that system will move through the Northland on Wednesday.

It does look like will be seeing a bit of a pattern change this weekend through about the middle of next week as winds aloft become southwesterly across the upper Midwest between a building ridge to the east and a trough over the Rockies. This type of pattern can be a stormy one at times as low-pressure systems eject NE out of the Rockies, and sure enough it does look like will be seeing a few rounds of showers and thunderstorms affect parts of the upper Midwest and the Northland this weekend through the middle of next week. Heavy rain is possible at times, as is the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, but that will depend on the amount of instability and wind shear that will be present, but the overall pattern does favor the potential for at least a marginal severe weather threat at times this weekend through the middle of next week.
