Some parts of the Northland have missed out on the rain so far this week, while other parts of the Northland have picked up a decent amount of rain. More of the same can be expected through Wednesday with scattered coverage rains (some heavier downpours) along with a few thunderstorms but will also see a few breaks in the clouds much like we’ve seen today.
It does look like will get a stronger offshore wind near Lake Superior on Wednesday so temperatures should warm well into the 70s in the Twin Ports on Wednesday, and possibly on Thursday too.
Farther inland expect more of the same when it comes to the temperatures with highs generally in the 70s to around 80 Wednesday and Thursday, then cooling to the mid 60s to mid 70s Friday and Saturday.
A brief shower moved through parts of Duluth early Tuesday morning, but other than that the Twin Ports has missed out on most of the rain up to this point, but things should change over the next few days with better chances for scattered showers with many dry hours still mixed in through Thursday.
The area of rain which has been moving east-southeast across northern Minnesota today is expected to slowly diminish as it moves farther to the southeast this evening, so chances that this rain holds together while impacting Duluth and Superior is pretty low this evening, but isolated showers have been developing ahead of that area of rain approaching from the north/northwest, so a pop-up shower can’t be ruled out this evening in the Twin Ports.

Two areas of spin on water vapor imagery today, one over southwest Ontario, the other moving into western Alberta – Both will help to keep the weather on the unsettled side in the Northland for the rest of this week.

Far northern Minnesota has been the big winners so far this week when it comes to how much rain has fallen.

An upper-level low pressure system is still forecast to develop while moving slowly south/east across Minnesota late this week (Friday-Saturday time frame) This system should bring more widespread showers to the Northland Thursday and Friday, with some showers likely lingering into Saturday as well.

Much of the Northland has a chance to pick up an inch or more of rain, and for some of us that would be an inch or more of additional rainfall through Saturday, with lower amounts of rain along the North Shore, but especially over the Minnesota Arrowhead.
