Breaking news — It’s been very wet as of late, with some of the highest rain totals found near Lake Superior especially along the North Shore. This wet pattern developed on September 5th and has continued for a better part of 3 weeks now.
Duluth has had 4 one inch or greater rainfall events so far this month (average is 1), with 2 rainfall events of 2 inches or more, and 1 rainfall event of 3 inches or more this month.
September 2015 and now September 2023 hold the record for the greatest number of 1 inch or greater rainfall events during the month of September, both at 4.

There is a chance that we could see a few showers move west-northwest across parts of the Northland on Wednesday, but widespread significant rains are not expected.

Total precipitation through Saturday morning (7 AM) — Again it looks like north central Minnesota has the greatest chance for more significant rainfall amounts Friday-early Saturday, but things could shift around a bit over the next day or two.

Mid and upper-level low which has been giving us lots of rain and overcast skies the last few days has finally moved far enough south into eastern Iowa which led to some sunshine returning to parts of the Northland today and more importantly a day with no rain.
