Meteorological fall (September-November) 2023 was warmer than average across the Northland with above average precipitation for some and below average precipitation for others.
September 2023 was very wet in Duluth with a precipitation anomaly of +6.88″ above normal, this was followed by a drier October and November with below normal precipitation for both of those months.
Duluth recorded 5 days with thunder during the fall of 2023, with all 5 occurring in September.
Note — Snowfall was well below average in Duluth during the fall of 2023 with only 3.0″ of snow from September through November (normal amount is 16.9″) Duluth received just 18% of its normal snowfall during the fall of 2023.
International Falls had a little more snow but still below normal for the fall of 2023 with 9.3″ of snow from September-November (normal amount is 13.8″) International Falls received 68% of its normal snowfall during the fall of 2023.
