We have a few chances for getting a little bit of snow in the Northland the next few days, but nothing significant when it comes to snowfall amounts.
A few flurries and light snow showers tonight with some lake effect snow showers east of Ashland where we could see up to 2 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon, but elsewhere in the Northland only trace amounts of snow are expected tonight.
Another round of snow showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with snowfall accumulations of a trace to an inch possible.
A somewhat stronger system misses the Northland to the south Wednesday evening-Thursday morning with southern Minnesota having a chance to get a few inches of snow midweek.
Temperatures will continue to run above normal across the Northland through midweek, although temperatures won’t be as warm as they were last week.
A brief shot of colder temperatures is possible Friday-Saturday with a chance for subzero nighttime temperatures in parts of the Northland while highs range from the teens to the 20s.
Note: Today, February 12th marked the 23rd day in a row with an above average temperature in Duluth. This streak of above average temperatures will continue at least through Thursday.

Midweek system looks like it will miss the Northland to the south.

Ice coverage on Lake Superior continues to run very low this winter with only around 2% of Lake Superior covered by ice as of February 11th. Note: Around 40% of Lake Superior should be covered by ice in mid-February.

Average temperatures so far this winter are running +10 to +12 degrees warmer than normal in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Any cold shot we may get late this week looks pretty short lived as warmer temperatures could return once again late this weekend into next week with highs in the 30s and 40s in the Northland.
