So far this month, average temperatures in the Northland have been close to normal or slightly below.
The average temperature and its deviation from the norm for August 2024 up to the 18th.
- Brainerd, MN: 66.7 degrees, -1.6 degrees below normal
- Ashland, WI: 66.4 degrees, +0.3 degrees above normal
- Duluth, MN: 66.1 degrees, -0.4 degrees below normal
- International Falls, MN: 63.0 degrees, -1.0 degree below normal
- Hibbing, MN: 62.4 degrees, -0.4 degrees below normal
Note: Duluth has experienced at least 80 degrees on four days this month. On average, August sees seven days with temperatures reaching 80 degrees or higher.
Highest temperatures so far this month
Ashland: 89 on the 2nd
Brainerd: 87 on the 2nd
Duluth: 86 on the 2nd
Hibbing: 83 on the 1st
International Falls: 82 on the 13th
In the coming days, Duluth can expect east winds and pleasant high temperatures ranging from the low to mid-70s. However, areas closer to Lake Superior will experience slightly cooler conditions.
This weekend into early next week, temperatures could rise into the 80s, but this will hinge on the wind direction. An easterly wind could result in cooler temperatures for the Twin Ports region.
Duluth has experienced an equal number of days with temperatures above and below the average this month.
