Hurricane Milton, now a Category 3 storm with winds reaching 120 mph, is approaching the west coast of Florida this afternoon. The storm’s eye is anticipated to pass near Longboat Key or in the vicinity between Bradenton and Venice tonight.

Today, the eye of Hurricane Milton is no longer visible on satellite images, and the storm appears less intense than in recent days. However, Milton remains a perilous Category 3 hurricane, boasting winds of up to 120 mph, torrential rains, and a hazardous storm surge. The surge could rise to 9 to 13 feet between Anna Maria Island and Boca Grande, with Tampa Bay potentially experiencing a surge of 6 to 9 feet.

Another significant concern with Milton is the tornado outbreak that occurred today in central and eastern Florida, with approximately 20 tornadoes reported thus far.
