A mild spring day in most of the Northland as we saw temperatures in the 60s, with even a few locations in the southern parts getting up to 70 degrees. However, an east wind off the big pond kept temperatures around 40 within about 15 miles of Lake Superior.

A much more amplified pattern is still expected to develop next week with at least two upper-level lows centered over the Southwest and Eastern U.S., while an upper-level ridge intensifies across the Upper Midwest and Central Canada. This pattern looks pretty dry for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin for much of next week.

High temperatures in the 60s and 70s are likely in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this weekend into next week, but whether or not these warmer temperatures occur closer to Lake Superior will depend on daily wind directions. There is a chance that we could see at least 3 days of warmer temps even near the lake between this weekend and next week.

Note: We might see our first 70-degree day of the year in Duluth this weekend or next week. The average date for the first 70 is April 28th, while last year it was on May 12th.
