Duluth Weather Update: Power Outages from Recent Storms

A fast-moving line of showers and strong thunderstorms rolled through Duluth and Superior between 9 and 9:30 tonight. These storms brought lightning, a brief downpour, and gusty winds reaching up to 45 mph. The strong winds caused power outages in parts of Duluth, with Minnesota Power reporting 8 outages affecting 1,544 customers as of 10 PM.

The largest outage is currently impacting the Kenwood and Duluth Heights areas, leaving over 700 Minnesota Power customers affected.

Over 500 Minnesota Power customers are facing power outages in the Scanlon and Cloquet areas tonight.

Radar rainfall estimates ranged from about 0.05 inches to 0.5 inches in portions of northeast Minnesota and far northwest Wisconsin this evening.

The rest of tonight in Duluth should remain dry as the line of storms moves swiftly off to the east later this evening.
