Cooler temperatures and breezy northwest winds will define this weekend’s weather in the Northland, with a chance of light passing showers on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday appears to be the coolest day of the weekend, with 850mb temperatures dropping to between +1 and +3°C in the Northland—the lowest in a few months. Highs are expected to reach around 60°F, but if clouds linger, some areas in northern Minnesota might only see temperatures in the 50s.
This brings us to the overnight temperatures, which still seem to be warm enough to prevent frost. However, we’re expecting lows in the 40s, with some of the usual cold spots in the area dipping to around 36 to 39 degrees on both Sunday and Monday nights.

International Falls, MN: 51 set in 1950
Duluth, MN: 55 set in 1914
Hibbing, MN: 55 set in 2015
Brainerd, MN: 56 set in 1915
Ashland, WI: 59 set in 2015
I think these record-low maximum temperatures are unlikely to be broken on Sunday, but we’ll see what happens.
