Dry Weather Ahead for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin

A dry weather pattern is settling over northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin for the next week, with little to no rain anticipated in the region.

The Northland might see its next opportunity for rain during the middle to latter part of next week.

There’s a chance of more fog tonight, lingering into Wednesday morning. Some of it could be dense, but it should clear out by Wednesday afternoon, much like it did today.

Today’s temperatures in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin ranged from the 60s to the low and mid-70s, with the warmest conditions concentrated in the western parts of the region.

Temperatures in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin are expected to reach the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday, with a possibility of hitting the 80s in some locations, especially on Thursday.

The upper trough over the Great Lakes is moving farther away from the Northland today, while upper-level ridging builds in from the north and west. Winds aloft remain very weak across the upper Midwest, with stronger winds aloft extending from the North Pacific into west-central Canada. Another area of stronger winds aloft over the southern Plains is contributing to the threat of severe thunderstorms this evening.

The weather system causing rain and thunderstorms across parts of the central Plains and Midwest today is also bringing snow (visible in the blue areas) to the higher elevations in Colorado, just west of the Denver area.
