Expect cooler, breezy weather this weekend.

It was an unusually warm mid-November day across the region, with temperatures reaching the mid 50s to the low and mid 60s. Today’s highs were around 25 degrees above the normal for this time of year

International Falls set a new record high for November 14th at 59 degrees, beating the previous record of 58 set in 2023.

The exception to this warm weather today was near Lake Superior, where an east wind kept temperatures in the 40s to around 50 degrees, which is still about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Rain showers are moving through parts of North Dakota early this evening, tied to a cold front that will quickly sweep across the Northland tonight.

Expect just a few light showers in the Northland later tonight with minimal rainfall, generally only a trace to about 0.07 inches at most.

Two weather systems are expected next week, but both seem likely to pass south of our area. In other words, it doesn’t look like there will be much precipitation in northeast Minnesota or northwest Wisconsin for most of the week.

The first one happens around Monday and Tuesday, November 17-18.

A second system may develop and track northeast out of the southern Plains later next week, around November 21-22.

A mass of arctic air with subzero temperatures is settled over parts of Alaska and northwestern Canada today, but it’s unlikely this cold air will push southeast into the Northland anytime soon.

Temperatures will dip this weekend and into next week, but only to more typical levels, with highs in the 30s and 40s and lows in the 20s, possibly even the teens.
