Duluth might be headed for one of its driest Novembers on record, with computer models showing no real chance of significant rain, snow, or even light precipitation in the coming week, and possibly beyond.

This month, Duluth has seen just 0.03 inches of precipitation, which is 1.02 inches below the normal amount as of November 15th.

A look at the top five driest Novembers on record in Duluth, Minnesota.

  • 0.09 inches (1917 and 1916)
  • 0.16 inches (1939)
  • 0.19 inches (1976)
  • 0.21 inches (1912)
  • 0.24 inches (1904)

The map is covered in red, showing that precipitation has been below normal so far this month. The darkest red spots mark areas with less than 25% of the usual amount through November 14th.

An active weather pattern is expected over the next week across the western U.S., as well as the southern Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley, and the southern and eastern Great Lakes region.

Next week, two systems will pass south of the Northland—one from Monday into early Tuesday, and the other later in the week between Thursday and Friday.

The southern parts of Minnesota and roughly the southern half of Wisconsin will probably be on the northern edge of both systems, with some precipitation, mostly rain, expected in those areas early and late in the coming week.

It’s worth mentioning that the next few nights will be on the chilly side in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin as temperatures drop into the teens and 20s, with some locations possibly even dipping into the single digits (normal lows range from the upper teens to lower 20s in mid-November).

Winds will stay gusty, ranging from 15 to 30 mph tonight and again on Sunday.
