Northland Rainfall Roundup: 36‑Hour Totals and Latest on Area Fires

On Monday, between two rounds of rain, much of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin picked up around half an inch of rainfall, with some areas getting three-quarters of an inch to an inch or more.

On Monday, Hermantown received 1.40 inches of rain, and Duluth Airport recorded 1.03 inches.

This was by far the heaviest rain the area has seen since late April.

The Flanders Fire has burned 1,666 acres and is now 60% contained, with great progress being made. As of 12 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, all evacuation orders and notices have been lifted.

The Stewart Trail Fire near Two Harbors on the North Shore of Lake Superior was fully contained by early Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2026.
