Northwest flow aloft was over the upper Midwest today, situated between a ridge in the Rockies and central/southern Plains and an upper low near James Bay, Canada.
Smoke levels aren’t a big concern, with only small amounts expected through Thursday in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Looks like 80-degree temperatures will return to the Northland starting Thursday and stick around through the weekend, with some spots possibly hitting the 90s from Friday to Sunday.
…Cooler weather today…
Temperatures in Northland are 10 to 20 degrees colder at 5 PM Tuesday than at 5 PM Monday.
High temperatures were in the mid 60s to low and mid 70s in the Northland today which is the coolest temperatures we’ve seen in several weeks.
International Falls hit 64 degrees today, the coldest it’s been since June 19, when it reached 59 degrees.
Duluth hit 69 degrees today, the coldest it’s been since June 24, when it was 63.
Today’s high of 68 degrees in Hibbing is the coolest it’s been since June 24, when the temperature reached 67.
Northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin are expected to have little rain, with only scattered showers possible late this week into the weekend.
