Autumn is making its presence known on today’s weather charts, with winter-like 500mb heights plunging to 517 decameters over Hudson Bay, Canada, and temperatures dropping to the 30s and 40s. However, it still feels like summer across much of the northern Plains and upper Midwest, where temperatures are reaching the 70s and 80s this afternoon.

  • There is a potential for frost and freezing conditions across much of the Northland early Friday morning.
  • On Saturday afternoon and evening, there is a slight possibility of thunderstorms in the Northland as a dynamic weather system moves through the area.
  • Fluctuating temperatures are expected to persist into the early part of next week.
