February looks to start off pretty snowy around here, with a few opportunities to get some snow this weekend and also next week.
Normal snowfall in Duluth in February is 15.1 inches; will February 2025 feature above-normal snowfall? Time will tell.

- Winter Storm Warning for the North Shore, including the cities of Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Finland, Tofte, Lutsen, and Grand Marais, from about mid-morning on Saturday to early Sunday morning.

- Winter Weather Advisory for parts of northeastern Minnesota and far northwest Wisconsin from about mid-morning on Saturday to early Sunday morning, including the cities of Duluth, Superior, Bayfield, Ashland, Moose Lake, Hibbing, Virginia, Isabella, Cook, and Ely.


Here’s my updated snowfall forecast for this weekend’s system.
- 6 to 10 inches of snow along the North Shore.
- 3 to 6 inches of snow for Hibbing, Ely, McGregor, Moose Lake, Superior and Bayfield.
- 1 to 3 inches of snow for International Falls, Bigfork, Walker, Brainerd, Hinckley, Spooner and Hayward.
Duluth: 3 to 6 inches of snow by early Sunday morning.
-Duluth has a 58% chance of getting at least 4 inches of snow by early Sunday morning, with a 2% chance of seeing up to 7 inches, according to the Euro ensemble model.

-Some light snow early Saturday morning in parts of northern Minnesota and also near Lake Superior (North Shore)
-Snow will become heavier Saturday afternoon and last through Saturday night.
-Snow will stop from west to east early on Sunday morning.
-East winds of 10 to 20 mph, gusting to 25 mph, may cause patchy blowing snow, especially along the North Shore Saturday afternoon and night.
European model simulated radar forecast valid Midnight tonight to 12 PM Sunday.

The system moving in on Saturday will bring a good temperature difference, with highs in the 40s in far western Minnesota and 50s in parts of east central South Dakota, while it will stay in the 20s in northeast Minnesota and far northwest Wisconsin.
