A cold front will keep moving south across the Northland tonight. While it has just enough lift to bring scattered showers, a widespread rain event is unlikely. In fact, some of us probably won’t see any rain at all.
Radar loop ends 5:48 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Behind this front, much cooler temperatures are expected, particularly near Lake Superior on Thursday, as northeasterly winds pick up with gusts reaching 30 mph before easing later in the day. Highs will range from the 50s to around 60 near Lake Superior, while the rest of the Northland can expect highs in the 60s to around 70.
Patchy frost is possible early Friday morning in areas of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, away from Lake Superior, as temperatures dip into the 30s and low 40s.
No organized weather systems are expected for the Labor Day holiday weekend, but the pattern will be a bit on the messy side as an upper low tries to move into the upper Midwest although it doesn’t look to have much success at the moment, with just low chances for a few popup showers in parts of the Northland this weekend and also on Labor Day.
Temperatures seem pretty comfortable this weekend, with highs mostly in the 70s across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
