It’s the second day of strong northeast winds in the Twin Ports area, with peak gusts today reaching 35 mph at Duluth Airport and 38 mph at Duluth Sky Harbor Airport. The breezy conditions will continue tonight and into Saturday morning, with gusts up to 30 mph, but winds are expected to gradually ease by Saturday afternoon.
A slow-moving system will keep affecting the Northland through the weekend.
For winter enthusiasts, it’s hard not to imagine how much snow this system could bring to Duluth, given its sluggish pace and the persistent east winds off Lake Superior that would enhance snowfall. But we’re not quite there yet.
