Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms have been drifting east-southeast across the Northland this afternoon, bringing gusty winds of about 30-45 mph, brief downpours, and the occasional small hail under half an inch in diameter. Luckily, severe weather hasn’t developed in our area today, thanks to the limited instability and moisture.
Rainfall amounts today have varied, with Littlefork, just south of International Falls, receiving 0.34 inches, Isabella seeing 0.16 inches, Eveleth getting 0.07 inches, and Ely recording 0.06 inches.
Note: Today, June 15th, Duluth, Minnesota experienced its fifth consecutive day with peak wind gusts of 30 mph or more, reaching 35 mph today.
Scattered showers are expected to linger in the Northland through the night and into early Tuesday morning, followed by a drying trend during the day. An isolated shower or two could pop up in the afternoon, but coverage should be much less than on Monday.

Rainfall totals of about 0.05 to 0.20 inches are expected tonight in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, with some areas potentially seeing slightly higher amounts.
Rain could make a return on Wednesday, mainly for east central Minnesota and much of northwest Wisconsin, reaching as far north as Grand Rapids, Hibbing, and Duluth. Totals could range from a quarter to half an inch or more, with the heaviest amounts likely south of Duluth.
Temperatures in between the clouds and showers warmed into the 70s in much of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin today, definitely one of the warmer days will see this week.
On Tuesday, temperatures will mostly range from the 60s to around 70, while on Wednesday, spots near Lake Superior and areas with steady rain in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin may stay stuck in the 50s.
…Saturday, June 20 Forecast…
Around 7 AM Saturday, temperatures from Two Harbors to Duluth should be near 50 degrees with light winds and no rain expected. By noon, temps are forecast to climb into the 60s with dry conditions and light winds, coming from the S-SE according to the Euro model or from the NW in other models.
