There are no frost advisories in our area tonight for the first time in several nights. In fact, I don’t expect any frost threat to return until sometime next week.

Rain will make its way back to parts of the Northland on Thursday, with the heaviest showers expected over western and north central Minnesota, where totals could reach half an inch or more. Farther east, including the Arrowhead, North Shore, Twin Ports, eastern Minnesota, and northwest Wisconsin, rainfall will be much lighter—some spots might only get a quick sprinkle Thursday afternoon.

In the Twin Ports area, rainfall is expected to range from just a trace to under 0.1 inches, with the best chance for showers coming Thursday afternoon into the early evening.

The Northland is expected to stay mostly dry this weekend, but early to mid next week could bring wetter conditions as a system moves in from the west and possibly the southwest. Rain may affect the region during that period.

…Hurricane Polo…

As of 3 PM CT Wednesday, Hurricane Polo was about 260 miles south-southeast of Manzanillo, Mexico, moving northwest at a speed of 7 mph.

Polo is still a strong storm, but its central pressure has risen over the past 24 hours. By Wednesday afternoon, the minimum central pressure was at 932 mb, or 27.53 inches, with maximum sustained winds at 145 mph, down from 180 mph on Tuesday.

Polo is expected to stay as a powerful category 4 hurricane with winds of 140 mph or more through Saturday, then weaken to a category 2 storm with winds between 104 and 127 mph by Monday as it moves toward Baja California.
